For Henri Bergson, time is a continuous flow of interiority—it is existence, it is duration: an unbroken succession that cannot be divided into separate moments. This is the inner time tied to our emotions, thoughts, feelings, and experiences—a lived, qualitative time, in contrast to the measurable, quantitative nature of physical time.

This inner, continuous, and qualitative flow is the source of life and connection. It is in the experience of lived time that I form bonds and come to know myself and others.
