"I came to explore the wreck.
The words are purposes.
The words are maps.
I came to see the damage that was done
and the treasures that prevail”
— Adrienne Rich (1929-2012), from "Diving into the Wreck", 1973
I wanted to talk about women, transformation, and liberation, creating a dialogue between structure and chaos. My starting point was the use of garments worn by women, which gave birth to "Mulieres".
The tapestry evolves from top to bottom, following a succession of colours that reflect a certain shift in meaning: from order to control and conformity, to distortion, questioning and liberation, this is for me a symbol of the deconstruction of expectations and traditional roles and female identity.
